Determining Whether Or Not A Warranty Is Right For Your Purchase

Saturday, February 6th, 2010 | 35 views

Face it, when something you depend on fails you it can be very altering. Have you had the experience of putting your key into your car only to find yourself unable to get it started? Have you ever tried to surf the web only to find you just cannot get an internet connection? Have you ever wanted to cut the grass and discovered that no matter how many times you pulled the cord, you could not start your mower? It is amazing how dependent most people are on the conveniences of modern day electronics. When one or more of them is unavailable it can be a major problem. Sometimes the solution is fast and simple. A reconnection to the web may be as simple as plugging in an unplugged router. Getting iPod repair or iPhone repair is usually a cost effective and fast service. Tending to a broken washer, dryer, or refrigerator is often on the complicated side. A faulty transmission is not only inconvenient but costly as well. As much as people depend on modern technology there can be a lot of hassle if it fails. Chances are everyone has experienced a technology or equipment failure at one point or another but predicting which mechanism or when is not very likely. One way to head off a potentially costly fix is to invest in a maintenance warranty or service agreement, but is this always a good idea?

Experts are occasionally torn when it comes to the purchase of maintenance agreements and warranties. Consumers tend be be divided on their necessity as well. There are a number of buyers who would never dream of purchasing a new washer and dryer without the inclusion of a maintenance and service agreement. On the other hand, there are some folks who would never consider such a thing a necessity, but rather a poor financial investment. One question to ask yourself when considering adding a service or maintenance option to your purchase package is what are the upfront costs versus the long term costs? Specifically, is the initial cost involved in the purchase of a warranty prohibitive to your budget or is it a fee that will ultimately save you money over the life of the item?

Another consideration with regard to warranties and maintenance agreements is whether or not the coverage will prove useful or will it cover parts or services which you will most likely never need to utilize? Does the warranty only provide limited coverage or is it a complete coverage agreement? Does it cover things which you could most likely take care of without help? A limited coverage warranty can be a roll of the dice but may just be worth it, depending on the item in question. It may be advantageous to read any product reviews prior to your purchase to get an idea of potential troublesome areas.

A final consideration in whether to purchase a warranty is the length of time you plan to own the item. Are you the type of consumer who is continually upgrading your technology or do you keep an item until it is completely worn out or is obsolete? Keeping this in mind will help you determine if you are someone who will benefit from maintenance and service warranties.

Facts And Figures On How The Apple Company First Started

Friday, February 5th, 2010 | 35 views

Today, the majority of Americans and most of the modern world are familiar with at least one of the Apple companies itmes, whether it is the iMac computer, macbook parts, ipods and iphone parts , and the more recent iPhone. This company was created in 1976 by 3 men who wanted to make a computer system available and accessible to people for their own personal use, not just an item that is found at a lab or in an office. It started out with the Apple I personal computer kit which was individually built by one of the 3 men, Steve Wozniak. Throughout the late 70’s they continued to create things that would change how computers worked such as the floppy disk to store data and by creating programs that used color, graphics and spreadsheets for businesses.

During the 1980’s Apple made their first large impression on the public with an advertising campaign for the Macintosh personal computer. They got a big producer to create a commercial to be shown during the Super Bowl in 1984 that cost {1.5 million dollars|$1,500,000. Several believe, that that one of a kind ad and the buzz surrounding it, gave the Apple company their start in being one of the biggest companies around. The commercial was titled 1984 and was a spin on George Orwell’s novel by the same title.

The next decade continued to bring more changes and inventions for the Apple company with some of the intial people leaving the company and new people joining the company. At this point only one out of the original three men was still at Apple. In 1991, the Powerbook was created which was a more portable laptop computer that was a new concept for computers in general. Everything that they came up with seemed to succeed until the mid to late 90’s.

With not much success, the company tried other electronics besides computers. Some of the things that failed were digital cameras, portable CD players, speakers and other appliances for televisions. All of the problems took a toll on the company and their stock headed for a decline for the first time since it went public in 1980. The invention of Windows software seemed to single handedly get the company back on it;s feet again as well as the creation of the iMac computer by Jonathan Ive.

Ive later designed the much loved iPod and iPhone and created a fan following to Apple that no other electronic or computer company ever experienced. The loyalty that a lot of customers have to Apple and their products is very strong. In 2001, Apple opened up their first retail store and even now, lines of fans will be outside the doors of a new store opening. The latest favorite item is the App store that allows 3rd party applications to be sold for the iPhone and iTouch and is estimated that the App store may become a billion dollar business for Apple.
