It can be very difficult during the holidays to decide what gifts are appropriate for your coworkers. Many people do not want to spend a large amount of money on the people they work with, yet they still feel they should get a little something for these friends at the office. 2. For female coworkers, shower gels, perfumes, or scented lotions are wise purchases too. As a word of caution, it is almost always best if a female worker gives these types of gifts to other female workers because sometimes if a man gives these kinds of gifts it might be seen as the wrong message. This gift can be relatively inexpensive because usually about the time of the holidays many stores have discounts on bulk purchases of this type. Some may even come in little small gift baskets with little sample sizes of different kinds of body care products.
3. Baking treats can also be a more personal gift. This is probably one of the less costly gift choices and if you are a really good baker, it could really help out a coworker who may be hosting the family Christmas or just a Christmas party for friends. Before baking any kind of treat, however, you should check to make sure the recipient or the recipient’s family doesn’t have any allergies.
4. Items for your coworker’s desk, computer, or MP3 player are also very nice gifts. For example, some people get their coworkers new headphones for their MP3 players so they can play their music while they are working. This can get a tad bit expensive if you are buying for more than one person, so this idea would probably work best for people who are involved in a secret Santa program with their office friends.
It is important to keep in mind that getting festive gifts for coworkers do not have to be too stressful. Some people choose not to give presents to their coworkers or some people organize an office secret Santa, so you only have to buy one gift for just a single colleague. If it is your first Christmas at an office, ask around the office to see what the normal holiday protocol is before you buy or make gifts for your colleagues. It is also important, if you are purchasing a lot of items for everyone to make a budget and stick to it. You can get very nice little goodies at reasonable prices if you plan ahead of time what your price range will be.
