iTunes Store adopts ‘Digital 45′ concept
Apple has introduced a new type of sales grouping at the iTunes Store, the Digital 45 . Meant to echo the record single releases popular at the beginning of rock and roll, the format groups together two related songs together for less than their standard cost. Prices can still vary, from $1.29 to $1.98 for a pair. Separately, tracks normally range from 69 cents to $1.29. Some artists included in the initial wave of 45s include Blondie, Coldplay, Prince and the Tragically Hip. Apple promises that some Digital 45 releases may be exclusives, not duplicating content from albums or other singles.
