Apple has announced details of the 2009 iTunes Live London Festival , which is being staged at The Roundhouse in Camden. The event will run throughout the entire month of July, and headline acts such as Oasis, Kasabian, Snow Patrol and The Saturdays. Paolo Nutini and Flo Rida are also confirmed as acts, but Apple notes that some 50 more spots in its concert lineup have yet to be disclosed. Tickets are not being sold but rather selectively distributed, for free, through a custom Facebook page . People without a Facebook profile can still compete for tickets through another page on the iTunes Live website; Facebook users have access to special weekly downloads however, beginning with Oasis’ “Shock of the Lightning” video. Each concert is being recorded, and will eventually be sold at all iTunes Stores worldwide. British residents will be able to catch some events through broadcasts on ITV1, ITV2, XFM, Capital Radio, Choice FM and Heart. Creative on Wednesday took a different approach to earphones and launched the Aurvana Air . Taking some of its name and basic design philosophy from Apple, the design focuses on weight with unique nickel-titanium ear hooks that keep the earbuds light but which also remember their shape to save owners from readjusting the fit every time. The pair’s neodymium drivers are also said powerful with slots specifically meant to drive bass; frequency response is estimated at between 20Hz and 20kHz with 32ohms of impedance. The Aurvana Air works with typical 3.5mm headphone jacks and is available in a single metallic silver color. It ships today to the US for $200 with both an acrylic hard case and a leather pouch. Daily Tracker ($3) is a personal organizer that allows users to store notes and track different activities. The application includes several built-in categories but also allows users to create their own. Daily Tracker provides a calendar view along with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly summaries. A search feature has also been integrated for quickly finding specific notes and data can be exported with an email in the CSV file format. GPS Photorino ($3) is a photo application that uses the GPS data stored with photos taken on the iPhone. Images are displayed in a Polaroid-style photo frame that includes information on the shooting location and the date and time. Users can also add any additional notes that further describe the image or the events being its shooting. GPS Photorino comes with 11 different photo frames including, plain paper, painting, love, kids, rough, and more. Beezy ($3) is a time tracking application that works by using the idea of before and after pictures. When a user starts a task they take a before image which is saved with time information. After the task has been completed they then take an after photo and the time stamps are compared and the total time spent on the project is noted. Users can organize their tasks into different folders allowing them to have multiple tasks on the go at any time. Boulder Dash ($5) is a port of the classic Apple II/Commedore 64 game. The game has been updated for the iPhone to celebrate its 25 anniversary and includes all of the original music, creatures and caves from the first release. Several different control schemes have been implemented along with the ability to switch between portrait and landscape orientations at any time. Users can also choose from four different graphics sets, some that have been updated and some that are true to the original game. Todo ($10) is an organizational tool that allows users to sort out tasks that need to be completed. Users can build lists of all their tasks and then create a workflow to get everything done. Lists can be synchronized with iCal by using a free desktop application or with cloud services such as Remember The Milk or Toodledo. The application also includes features for organizing lists including projects, checklists, and color coding options. The third version of Hot Dog Down A Hallway , Metaversal Studios’ only iPhone app, has been rejected by the App Store. Apple cites “explicit content” as the reason for its decision. Metaversal Studios is unconvinced by the label, as the game, despite its suggestive name, has previously been given a low age rating of nine and up by the App Store. The developer’s Interactive Director, Dave Laundry, believes the “iTunes censorship policy is a mystery.” Others have voiced the same criticism of Apple’s review process, including Trent Renzor of Nine Inch Nails after the band’s app was declined following similar accusations. The NIN app was reevaluated and later approved . Metaversal Studios is hoping the same will happen to their app. A Baby Shaker app, in which players shake their iPhone to end the sound of a child crying, stirred similar controversy. Apple initially approved the app, although the game was quickly pulled and the company publicly apologized for the mistake. Hot Dog Down A Hallway v1.1 is still available from the App Store for $1, but will likely be removed. Filed under : iPhone apps Original source: feeds.macnn.com , delivered by rss-farm.ru

TuneUp Media has updated its iTunes add-on , and has announced that Apple will sell the plug-in online and at its retail stores. The TuneUp interface has been updated to closely resemble iTunes, and new features have been added. The software takes an “audio fingerprint” of songs to help users identify and organize tracks, find album art, and locate information about artists and concerts. TuneUp Media says it has over 200,000 registered users around the world, and the plug-in is the most-downloaded iTunes-related software from Download.com. Apple’s retail outlets and online store will carry a packaged version of the software, which has previously been available online for either a yearly or “lifetime” subscription fee. New features include the ability to disable “greatest hits” compilations as an option for organizing songs — so the tracks can instead be matched to their original albums. Mac users can now create playlists of all albums “cleaned” by TuneUp software. Another new feature allows users to choose which metadata the software saves by default — which can be useful when creating music mixes. TuneUp requires an Intel Mac running OS X 10.4 or higher, and also works with Windows XP SP2 or Vista. The new retail version is now available from Apple for $30, the same price as the lifetime subscription directly from TuneUp. One-year subscriptions are also available online for $20.
