Company Apple has occupied a firm position in relation to the offer of National association of the sound recording companies of the USA (National Music Publishers’ Association, NMPA) about increase of the rate of royalties at sale of musical production through online services. In particular, NMPA suggests to increase deductions to authors with 9 to 15 % for the downloaded song.

In reply to it vice-president Apple iTunes Eddy Cue since 2007 says that at such state of affairs of the company will be simply unprofitable to support service iTunes which and so, as he said, does not bring essential profit.

«Apple more than once clearly said, that business is necessary to earn money. If iTunes will not bring profit the company hardly will support further this direction».

The association of the digital media companies (Digital Media Association, DMA) – concern into which enters including Apple, – on the contrary, says that authors should receive even less deductions: instead of 9, at all 4.8 or even 6 %. NMPA has already declared, that counteroffer DMA is absolutely insolvent. «It is possible, for the account of the low prices in musical shop Apple wishes to raise popularity of players iPod, – president NMPA David Izraelit (David Israelite) speaks. – However from sales iPod’s we have no cent».
